The Astrolite Ultra-Lightweight Mobility Scooter: Price, Range and Everything Else You Need to Know

The Astrolite Ultra-Lightweight Mobility Scooter: Price, Range and Everything Else You Need to Know

If you've ever wrestled a scooter into a car boot on your own, you already know why weight matters more than almost any other spec. The Astrolite Ultra-Lightweight Mobility Scooter was built around exactly that problem: it comes apart into sections, and even the heaviest of them weighs under 10 kg - light enough for most people to lift in and out of a boot without help, every time. It's one of our most popular choices for anyone who needs a scooter that genuinely travels with them, whether that's to the shops, a family lunch, or further afield. Here's a full look at what it costs, how far it goes, and whether it's the right fit for you.

    Battery & Range

The Astrolite runs on a 17.2Ah removable lithium-ion battery, giving a range of roughly 18.4 km / 11.4 miles on a full charge - enough for most people's typical day out and then some. The battery is removable and can be charged on or off the scooter, so you can bring it indoors to charge while the scooter itself stays in the boot or hallway. Charging takes 8–10 hours from empty.

    Price & No VAT

The Astrolite costs €1,999, and like every mobility scooter and powerchair we sell that price has no VAT added, for anyone, at any time. There's no scheme to apply for and nothing to claim back afterwards; the price you see is simply the price you pay.

Standard delivery is free on orders over €100 (otherwise €9.95), with timeframes from next-day to 7–10 working days depending on stock. If you'd prefer it delivered, assembled and demonstrated in your home, our engineered delivery service is available for €130.

    How Does It Compare?

If frequent lifting is your main priority, the Astrolite's sub-10 kg heaviest section makes it one of the lightest scooters we sell: lighter than the Jaunt (from €799, heaviest part 15.9 kg) and the Air Active (€1,099, heaviest part 15 kg). Both cost less, so if budget matters more to you than shaving off those extra kilos, they're worth a look too. For a fuller side-by-side of how our folding and sectional scooters compare, see our Folding Mobility Scooters guide.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    1. How heavy is the Astrolite really, and can I lift it myself?

With the batteries removed, the whole scooter weighs 27.5 kg split across several sections, the seat, tiller, base and battery. The heaviest single section is under 10 kg, which is what most people find manageable to lift into a car boot unassisted. If you're not sure, we'd always recommend trying it during a free home demonstration first.

    2. How far will the Astrolite go on one charge?

Around 18.4 km / 11.4 miles on the standard 17.2Ah battery, which is enough for most people's typical day out. Charging from empty takes 8–10 hours, and since the battery is removable you can top it up indoors while the scooter itself stays wherever you keep it.

    3. Is the Astrolite allowed on flights?

Airline acceptance of lithium batteries varies by carrier and by the battery's capacity, so we'd always recommend checking directly with your airline before you travel rather than assuming it will be allowed as standard luggage. See our guide to air travel with mobility scooters and powerchairs for more detail, or call us on 0818 989 353 if you're planning a specific trip.

    4. How does the Astrolite compare to the Jaunt?

The Jaunt costs less, from €799, and splits into more, smaller pieces, while the Astrolite has a lower overall part count and a slightly higher-spec seat and suspension. Both are genuinely easy to lift; which suits you comes down to budget and how you like to break the scooter down.

    5. What's the warranty and delivery policy?

The Astrolite comes with a standard 12-month warranty. See our full delivery, warranty and returns information, or call us on 0818 989 353 with any questions.

    6. Can I try before I buy?

Yes, we offer free, no-obligation home demonstrations across Ireland. One of our specialists will bring the Astrolite to your door so you can try it on your own driveway or path before deciding.

    Try It at Home, Free

The best way to know if the Astrolite is right for you is to try it where you'll actually use it. Book a free, no-obligation home demonstration and one of our mobility specialists will bring the Astrolite to your door, talk you through the range and features, and let you try it on your own driveway or local path. There's no pressure to buy, and no charge for the visit.
