You don't need an OT report to buy from us (we don't require one) but we regularly work alongside OTs and their recommendations when customers already have one. Self-propelled wheelchairs have large rear wheels with push rims, so the user has the option to propel themselves, and can still be pushed by a carer when needed. The larger wheels also tend to give a smoother ride over uneven ground and kerbs. Transit wheelchairs have smaller rear wheels and are designed to be pushed by a carer or companion rather than self-propelled. Weight is broadly similar across our range in each category, so the main decision comes down to whether you want the option to self-propel, rather than choosing based on weight alone.
