Choosing a mobility scooter or powerchair is a significant decision. There are questions about which model suits you, whether it fits in your car, how it handles your local paths, and sometimes simply whether you actually need one at all. A free in-home demonstration is the best way to answer all of those questions at once, in your own surroundings, without any pressure to buy.
Here is exactly what to expect when you book one with us.
What Is a Home Demonstration and Why Do We Offer It?
A home demonstration means one of our trained mobility specialists brings a selection of scooters or powerchairs directly to your door. You get to try the equipment on your own driveway, garden path, or local footpath, the actual terrain you will be using it on every day, before making any decision.
We offer this service because we believe it is the right way to sell mobility equipment. A showroom visit tells you a lot, but it cannot tell you whether a scooter handles the gradient on your road, or whether it fits through your garden gate. A home demonstration can. It removes all the guesswork and, for many people, it removes a lot of anxiety too.
There is no charge for the visit and no obligation to buy. We cover all of Ireland.
How to Book
Booking is straightforward. You can call us on 0818 989 353 or fill in the enquiry form at betterliving.ie. Just leave your contact details, and we will call you to arrange an appointment for a home demo.
We will confirm a date and time that works for you, and let you know which specialist will be visiting. The whole booking process takes a few minutes.
What Our Specialist Brings
Our specialist will arrive with a selection of models chosen to match what you described when booking. If you mentioned you need something lightweight for the car, they will bring options like the AstroLite and the Jaunt. If you are interested in a powerchair, they may bring the AeroCarbon or the InstaFold Powerchair.
You will not be shown everything in the range, just the models that are genuinely relevant to your situation.
What Happens During the Visit
The visit typically takes 45 minutes to an hour, though there is no rush. Here is how it usually goes:
- A short conversation first. The specialist will ask about your typical day, the distances you cover, any specific terrain you deal with, and whether you have any physical considerations that affect how you get on and off a scooter.
- A demonstration of each model. The specialist will show you how each scooter works, including how it folds or disassembles, how to charge it, and how the controls feel. They will explain the differences clearly and without jargon.
- You try it yourself. This is the most important part. You sit on it, drive it along your path or driveway, and get a real feel for whether it suits you. If you want to test it on a nearby footpath or road, the specialist will accompany you.
- Your questions get answered. No question is too basic. How does it charge? Can my husband lift it into the boot? What happens if it breaks down? What if I change my mind after buying? The specialist has heard every question and will give you a straight answer.
If a family member is involved in the decision, they are very welcome to be present for the full visit.
No Pressure, No Obligation
This is worth saying clearly: our specialists are not there to sell. They are there to help you find the right equipment, and if none of our models are suitable for your needs, they will tell you that too. We would rather you walked away without buying than bought the wrong thing.
There is no follow-up pressure, no limited-time offer pressure, and no expectation that a visit will lead to an immediate sale.
After the Demo: Ordering, Delivery, and Support
If you decide to go ahead after the demonstration, ordering is simple. Most customers order directly through the specialist during or after the visit, or online at betterliving.ie. Delivery is arranged to your door, and for most models, the specialist will return to set it up and walk you through everything again on delivery day.
All our scooters and powerchairs come with a manufacturer's guarantee, and our after-sales team is available by phone if you ever need help or advice once you have your equipment.
There is no VAT on mobility scooters or powerchairs in Ireland - the price you see on our website or hear during the demonstration is exactly what you pay.
